In short
- Noor has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
- Prayer times and the Qibla are calculated entirely on your iPhone.
- Your location is never sent to us. To show your city name, your iPhone asks Apple’s geocoding service for it.
- Deleting the app deletes everything Noor stored.
Who we are
Noor is published by Prototypo Lab (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Noor iOS app, its widgets, and the website at noor.prototypolab.com. If you have a question about it, contact us at hello@prototypolab.com.
Information Noor processes
Location
If you allow location access, Noor reads your approximate location (accurate to about one kilometre) to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. The calculation happens on your device; we never receive your coordinates.
City lookup
To display a place name such as “Jakarta, Indonesia” and its time zone, Noor uses Apple’s built-in geocoding service. Your device sends your coordinates (or the city you type into the search) to Apple to get that result. Apple processes this under the Apple Privacy Policy; we do not receive it.
Settings stored on your device
Your chosen calculation method, Asr school, notification preferences and last known location are saved in the app’s private storage on your iPhone so the app and its widgets can use them. This data stays on your device (and in your device backups, if you use them).
What we don’t collect
Noor does not:
- require an account, email address or phone number;
- include analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs;
- sell, rent or share personal information with anyone;
- track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports. You control this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Notifications
Adhan alerts and reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. They are not sent from a server and we do not collect a push token. You can turn them off per prayer in Noor’s Settings or entirely in iOS Settings.
This website
The website uses no cookies and no analytics. It is hosted by Vercel, which, like any web host, processes technical request data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and keep it secure. See the Vercel Privacy Policy. If you email us, we use your message only to reply.
Children
Noor is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your choices
- Revoke or change location access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Noor, or choose a city manually instead.
- Turn notifications on or off in Noor’s Settings or in iOS Settings.
- Delete Noor to remove all data it stored on your device.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Noor handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
